I think little pockets of people like this are very important; we could learn a to from them. I mean, science is trying constantly trying to extend our lives, and these people live to 90 without much science at all. Their lives are simple and homegrown, proving that science needs to look back to move forward.

Anna Wehrmann "The Island Where People Forget to Die"
There is a Greek island called Ikaria where people commonly live to be in their 90s or more. They are spry people and most make their own wine and weave at 90 or 100. It is very interesting because this little community, due to the fact that they have no natural port, haven't participated in many technological advances. While America na the rest of the world are getting fat and watching the television, this group of centennials are growing their own tomatoes and reading five hours a day. A lot of them also party just like they were much younger, and don't let their age hinder them. But all of them are worried that in this age of cellphones and not appreciating the little things, they might be the last group of centennials on this island.

What a cool place to live and literally grow old.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting theory on life. It would be a cool experiment to live this way for a week or so and see how it goes. - Skyler Tepedino
