Nadia Blanton-Rolling Stone Reporter Found Liable Over Rape Allegation Story

Summary: In 2014, Rolling tone ran a story about a gang rape at the University of Virginia of which did not actually happen. The reporter, Sabrina Erdely, did not interview or attempt to interview the alleged suspects. She also suggested that the dean of the university was not interested in pursuing the case. In turn the dean sued the reporter and the results have caused massive damage to the magazine's creditability.

Analysis: Behavior like this creates a more hostile environment for victim's who wanted to get their story out there and reporters who want to help them in doing so. It is already difficult for those facing such attacks to find justice and it's these false and unfair strategies that make bad representation.
