This week a blood moon will occur and should be visible from every point in North America. A blood moon is a total lunar eclipse and as the moon passes beneath the earth's shadow, it turns a metallic red, because the earth's shadow reflects the color of a desert sunset. The eclipse predicted for Tuesday is only one of four set to happen within the next year and a half. Each will happen roughly within six months of the last. While the exceptionally large amount may make them seem commonplace, they it is actually just the opposite, in fact this occurrence would be the equivalent of a poker player getting four of a kind. Furthermore, astrologists have said that a blood moon hasn't happened for the past 300 years. The red appearance will only last for about an hour or two at most and it is predicted to come into our line of sight at around 2:00 am on Tuesday.
This is so cool. NASA says only 2 lunar eclipses happen a year, so getting four in a year and a half, especially of the same kind, is a really big deal. I will be eagerly awaiting each eclipse, even if that means staying up late. The images projected of this happening are stunning, and I am really excited to see it in person.
