A company in Texas has said they made a Metal Gun by using a 3-D printer. A man named John Browning made this gun and designed it as the M1911 version. It has 33 stainless steel parts and it can shoot to about 30 yards. The people in charge of this company hired very intelligent people to make the 3-D gun and they used a very expensive printer to make it. A 25-year old man named Cody Wilson posted a video on online of how to make the gun. This video and website was shut down by the U.S. State Department after the department sent them a letter. I don't really know how I feel about people printing guns, I think that should be done in a factoring with a major company, not one in your house. I also don't see the need to have a gun unless you are in the war or the police, but that doesn't mean that I disagree with the right to bear arms.

I think 3-D printers are really cool but in this case they don't sound very safe if someone can use it to make a gun. I'm glad that the website with the video on how to make it was shut down so hopefully other people won't be able to make guns on their own.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what technology can do, but if people will eventually be able to make weapons like guns in their own homes easily, then that's dangerous and too far.
