Typhoon Haiyan
On November 7th, typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines and on November 11th, it hit Vietnam. It is said to be one of the worst recorded storms in history. The Philippine government put the confirmed death goal at 1,774 dead but it is believes there may be up to 10,000 others dead. This sadly seems like a possible scenario as reports state that the ground is "covered" with bodes everywhere. The countries are out of basic supplies, including water. International relief from many countries, including the United States, is arriving but it is hard to say if it will be adequate.
The whole situation is really sad. The fact that they are out of supplies is scary because that means that people are drinking dirty water which will lead to more problems. It's concerning that with all of our evolved technology we, as a planet, cannot control natural disasters. These disasters are so impactful on our world but there is almost nothing to do about it.

It is very sad to see that this happened, but it just means that we as a community must work together to help them survive and get back on their feet. - Emily Gray
