Kolina Hocevar period 5 Plagiarism

Sen. Rand Paul has been charged of plagiarism exposed in his speeches and writings, saying his office has been "sloppy" and pledging to add footnotes to all of his future material. The Kentucky Republican emphasized that he never intentionally tried to use others' ideas or words as his own."Did we make mistakes? Yeah, I'm the first to admit that I'm imperfect. But at the same time, I do get offended when people try to cast aspersions on my character - because I'm honest," he said. "I've never tried to mislead people. I've made mistakes, but you know, I think that's different than trying to attack someone's character." While Paul argued that on Tuesday, 98% of his speeches were his own words and thoughts, he and his staff will now "footnote everything as if it were a college paper."

There is proof that he plagiarized so he should not try to cover it up. He would be a better man and people would respect him more if he owned up to his mistake and apologize. It is always so hard for people to apologize for their mistakes, it amazes me.

  1. Felicia Padilla 5th- the punishment is usually lighter if you admit to the mistake you are made before you are caught

I think he is digging himself into a whole by trying to cover it up. He should just admit to what he did and take the consequences.

  3. It's so cute when people try to pull the "We all make mistakes so don't point fingers at me!" thing. As a writer, plagiarism makes me especially grumpy, don't do it kiddos.
