Though the countries were preparing a trade deal just a few days earlier, both China and America have decided to escalate tensions by introducing new tariff legislation. China has announced plans for tariffs on over 60 billion dollars on American products, while Trump, has recently introduced plans for $540 billion on Chinese imports. With new tariffs being passed, the average everyday products can experience a dramatic price increase due to the absence of our major source of foreign trade. While both countries will suffer greatly from the trade dispute, America will be the most effected, which will only forward tension between America and the outside world. although the president seems as enthusiastic as ever about relations between china, the US economy is already proving otherwise, with the declining stock market, as well as the economies worst one-day performance that America has seen in months. what's to tell how future relations with China will be, what's to tell who's next in line.
This instance reminds me of the dispute between imperialism and isolationism during the Spanish American war during the late 19th century
