New York and public safety- Madi Haggard

Texting and driving are illegal and now in New York, texting while walking could be as well.
A bill in the New York State Senate aims to ban pedestrians from using any portable electronic devices while crossing the road with fines that range from $25 to $250.
The ban will include texting, checking emails, and browsing the internet, with unique case exceptions for emergencies.
The bill was brought to attention in the State Assembly last year by Assembly Member Felix W. Ortiz. State Senator John Liu also introduced a version in the Senate last week, hoping for bill advancement.
The bill must be approved by the transportation committees in the Assembly and Senate before it's allowed to come to a full vote.

This article shows how the leaders of different states have people’s safety in mind rather than taking away rights for their personal beliefs.  I reported on this article because I think it is essential to know some good that goes on in this world and be aware of foreign countries actions.  This article was published on May 20, 2019, and was made to inform people of political activities happening in their state.
