Hundreds protest Alabama abortion ban: "My body, my choice!"
Many people were upset by the abortion ban passed in Alabama. There were protesters who protested "My body, my choice!" Two speakers spoke at the rally about their experience with an abortion and why they did it. Governor Kay Ivey signed an abortion law stating that performing an abortion in all cases is a felony except if the mother's health is in critical condition. People are saying that abortions are still going to occur but secretly. This has caused a huge controversy around the world because it over turns the court case in history Roe v. Wade making abortion legal worldwide.
Analysis: This article intrigued me because I have seen many varying points on social media and in the news. I believe the decision of Alabama court is ludicrous because why are we going back in time and changing the law if we had made it legal in 1973. Not only that but why are men making decisions for women when they should be able to choose what they want to do with their own body. I believe this article relates to history with the Roe v. Wade ,in the 1973 case, because we fought so hard to make it legal and dealt with the same issues during that time with women and abortion.
I totally agree with you Eryn. I don't understand why we are going back in time or why men are making these decisions. It is so sad to hear stories about young women who have to go through with a pregnancy, even if it was never their choice to get pregnant in the first place. Every women has different reasons with why they would want to abort their child, and she should have the right to do so.
ReplyDeleteI agree this is crazy they we are letting men out of all people decide what we can and cant do and its not right to us because we should have a say in what we should do with our bodies.
