This article details the rise of socialist principles taking stronger root in American government, politics and economy. It points out propositions such as Medicare-for-all and the Green New Deal, both of which have been widely endorsed in the Democratic Party recently. There is, additionally, an influx of "Democratic Socialists" (whatever that means) who have taken or will take seat in Congress.
Proposals such as these make me want Trump's statement to be true more than ever: "America will never be a socialist country."
All these government spending plans remind of those that Franklin D. Roosevelt passed in the first half of the 20th century.

I find it interesting how there are constantly (throughout history) criticisms of the government, claiming that America is becoming socialist, though never fully incorporating socialism into our policies. I wonder if we will soon move towards a socialistic government system, considering the influx of these "Democratic Socialists" in Congress.

I think everyone should have access to food and healthcare. There is a massive unequal distribution of wealth in America that makes it very difficult for people to be able to even get a checkup, much less get treatment for serious illnesses and diseases. A vial of insulin that would cost $20 dollars with healthcare is $400 without. Keep in mind that people need these things to SURVIVE. It shouldn't be a luxury to live. If they think caring for the wellbeing of others is "socialist" then I suggest they take a quick look at a dictionary.
