Paige McManaman- Virgin Airline States That Women No Longer Are Required to Wear Makeup On The Job

Today, it was announced that women are no longer required and permitted to wear makeup on the job every single day and flight on Virgin Atlantic. Also, women will be able to receive pants as a part of the female attire on the plane rather than wear a skirt. The move, called a “significant change for the aviation industry” by the company, comes after the company “listened to feedback from employees,” CNN reported. I think this is a giant step for women considering that wearing makeup can very very uncomfortable for women. I think this switches back to the 20th century views of women and how they are viewed on an every day basis and other people’s standards of them. I am glad there is small changes happening around the world that can possibly lead to bigger ones.

  2. I agree! Before reading this I didn't realize it was required for women to wear makeup! It is crazy that up until now, we were FORCED to "beat our faces" in order to look presentable.

  4. It's so upsetting that this was ever required in the first place. This is an example of how people think they are entitled to women. I'm so glad that this has been repealed. I hope steps like these will continue to be made.
