Summary: On March 3rd, 2019, BBC released an article covering US and South Korea's conformation that the 'war games' will be coming to a close in a continuing effort to completely denuclearize the Korean Peninsula. The 'war games', or the joint military exercises between U.S. and South Korean troops in South Korea, have taken place in the spring and fall every year ever since the end of the Korean conflict, and have never failed to anger North Korea. North Korea sees the war games as preparation for military invasion and many felt it would be better to end them. Although many see the war games as 'necessary', considering that North Korea will attack when the other side has their guard down, most say that it'd be better to lower threats of nuclear warfare as much as possible.
Analysis: Considering the U.S.'s bizarre current relationship with North Korea, I support the effort to try and denuclearize the entire Korean Peninsula. Knowing our President, it would be better to have a smooth surface to 'walk' on instead of eggshells so the stakes wouldn't be drastically high if anyone somehow angered North Korea. I didn't even know what the war games were before reading this article. This article was written by the writing staff at BBC (the names weren't listed), and this article was written to give the international community outside of the U.S. and North Korea a chance to give their opinions on the matter. The second meeting between Kim-Jong-Un and Trump and the end of the war games is similar to the North and South Koreans joining together as one team for the Winter Olympics 2018.
Emma Burkey: The sooner the Korean peninsula is denuclearized the better; it is especially terrifying having those powerful weapons in the hands of a Korean dictator , and, really, our president too.
