Trump Veto- Madi Haggard

The Senate could now have enough votes to pass a precaution blocking Donald Trump's national emergency declaration.  After Sen. Rand, Paul stated his support for the resolution of disapproval the possibility arose.
The resolution made in the House passed checkpoints on Tuesday and included 13 Republicans voting with Democrats.  Senate Democrats need four Republican colleagues to vote alongside them for the measure to pass. If this passes, then this will be the first veto against Trump.  Trump has stated that he will veto the resolution “100%."  Congress would then need an overwhelming majority -- two-thirds of its members -- in both chambers to overrule Trump's veto, which is unlikely.  He signed a spending bill last month which kept the government open and released $1.375 billion for a border wall. He also declared a national emergency to which unlocks billions of dollars in to build the border wall.

This article shows how the leader of our country acts upon his self-interests and does not think for the country as a whole.  This money being released could be used for more prominent issues rather than a wall to separate us.  I reported on this article because I think it is important to remember what goes on in this world and be aware of our leader's actions.  This article was published on March 3, 2019, and was made to inform people of political actions happening in their country.

  1. I agree. There ar many other issues happening within our country that still need to be addressed and fixed which the wall money could be used for as well. Lily Philips

  2. Agreed. More efficient way to spend the money to help better the country than this.
