14 Found Dead after Tornadoes touch down in the South - Siobhan Crummey

This weekend, deadly tornadoes touched down in Alabama and Georgia. After sorting through some of the rubble, and rescuing others, 14 have been confirmed dead and  countless more have been taken to the hospital with serious injuries. About 12 of the deaths occurred where the tornado got the most intense, Opelika, Alabama. Although no body has throughly assessed the damages, many tornadoes toughed in many different spots and left a path of destruction in their wakes.

This relates to history because the Dust Bowl killed many farmers and destroyed agriculture for many years, worsening already terrible conditions for farmers in the 1930's. The audience is the South, and that more tornadoes might come our way, so we need to band together and be prepared. The point of view is someone who probably doesn't live in the South, so they don't know what living through a tornado is like. The purpose was to inform and advice. This is important because 14 people died and they could have been prevented.

  1. I used to live in Oklahoma so tornados were a big part of my life. They were horrifying for this reason exactly.

  2. This is really scary and sad because the tornado destroyed their homes in which many grew up in and it also took 12 lives. ~ Stephannie Hernandez
