President Donald Trump just recently invited the President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, to the White House while on the phone discussing North Korea. Their "friendly discussion" entailed security in Southeast Asia and the Philippines Drug War. The American people are questioning why the US President would invite a leader with many alleged human rights abuses and killings. It was later stated by the Chief of Staff that North Korean issues are above all other issues, even human rights. He said that we all have to "be on the same page" in order to make allies and solve the issues with North Korea.
Analysis:
I think that it is a good idea to try and make as many foreign relations as possible in order to handle North Korean issues, but I think that the President needs to think more clearly on who he is trying to ally with. Not every leader will be a good, positive thing for US forces. I hope that despite the statements made about Duterte, that the US is kept safe.
