Summary:
Murdered by an intruder that broke into their home. He told the police as he was arriving home to retrieve his laptop he heard noises upstairs. He went to investigate and saw a very tall masked man upstairs. This is when he states his wife arrived home. The intruder shot his wife and tortured Richard. However, the steps on the wife's fitbit don't match his story. The information gathered from the fitbit tells a different story. Connie was home for almost an hour after arriving from her exercise class, which contradicts Richard's story.
Analysis:
I think this case is incredible. It's extremely sad that this woman was murdered, but thanks to technology the man who committed the crime will be punished for it. Without the fitbit a killer could be walking freely. I hope technology can help solve cases in the future and punish the person who committed the crime. In the past there was probably no way to tell who did what in a criminal investigation except someone's testimony. This probably led to many people being wrongly accused and I'm glad we have technology to help us now.
