Kate Pinkerton - increase of troops in Afghanistan

Summary - There are proposals for an increase of troops in Afghanistan which President Trump will make decisions on soon. The proposed increase of troops in will probably be a couple thousand. The US currently has 8400 troop there currently. The US and the UN are working to move from fighting to more diplomatic positions. Our forces and allies have had more casualties and had a decrease in control of the area. This proposition would be enacted but work along the plan to encourage relations between Afghan forces in fighting ISIS.

Analysis - "...advising and training Afghan security forces and make them strong to counter terrorism." When I read this I couldn't help but think that this sounded precisely like then the US tried vietnamization at the end of the Vietnam War, which, fun fact, didn't work and allowed for communists to enter Vietnam. While I see that they're desperate to combat ISIS and other terrorist groups in the area I feel like increased violence is not the answer. Trump's recent foreign policy decisions have been questionable so I'm concerned about how this one will turn out.
