Anna Czyzewski - The Ban on Sanctuary Cities Spread

Summary: Just last Sunday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill banning sanctuary cities. This is only one state in the many who have already done so or are planning to sign such bills. States that have already done so include Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. A few of this states don't even have any sanctuary cities at all, however, they still have "protected" themselves against it. States that have bills that are pending include Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

Analysis: Looking at how many states have banned them or are planning to, really shows how many people in power don't care much for their citizens. Most of the people whose lives are on the line are hardworking citizens who contribute greatly to society. The first sanctuary city was established in Los Angeles in 1979, and now there are almost 200 in the U.S.
