Summary: Because of Daylight Savings Time we get an extra hour of sleep, and in return the sky becomes darker faster. Daylight Savings Time started during WW1 as a way to conserve energy and has happened since the 1960's. In the article they explain how its important to have more light in the evenings. Its more likely for kids to excersise if they get more light at night. Robberies decrease, and economic gain happens because people take trips to buy things after work. When its dark outside, these things are less likely to take place. The last reason they gave was less car crashes, which would be much better for the safety of people.
Analysis/Synthesis: The author of this is definitely biasis towards not having daylight saving time because he wrote all the reasons we shouldn't have it. I agree that I would rather not have it because even after reading this article, it still confuses me why it was created in the first place. Also, as a kid a hated it because I just wanted to play outside longer and never go to bed. This can be compared to the time in history before we had Daylight Savings time. In the article they had a video at the end that showed how life was without daylight savings. After reading and watching about Daylight Savings Time, I'm still super confused why we have it.

Yeah I'd have to agree. I doesn't really do much anymore besides confuse us.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your thoughts on this. Reading this makes me confused as well. - Skyler Tepedino
ReplyDeletethe author's biased views are definitely confusing and I agree with your opinions.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It was quite confusing to read about and I never understood the reason it was originally created for until now.
ReplyDeletei agree. it did confuse me, just a hair though, but i see the point now.
ReplyDeleteLeaving my house at 6pm today to complete darkness really threw me off. In my opinion, daylight savings time should be reconsidered, as several countries choose not to partake in it and they operate just as well.
