96 different countries have agreed to a law originally from France on Friday. This agreement rules that each country will collectively do their part to prevent global warming from rising more than 2 degrees Celsius. Plans of action so far have been based around reducing further projects to collect more fossil fuel as they believe that the worlds current supply of fossil fuels would already reach to 2 degrees of rising climate change. The process will not punish countries who fail to do their part but simply create a transparent system in which people will be able to see which countries are not doing their part as of means of encouragement for following the terms of the agreement.
This law could mean history for the fight against climate change as more countries recognize it as a legitimate issue to be be delt with collectively however I wonder what its actual result will be as their are no rules or procedures to actually motivate governments beyond social appearance however I think it was the correct move to not place in any such procedures. Hopefully the results of this are positive yet either way I believe it is a large step in the right direction for the good of the Earth.
