Today, it was announced that Sony, one of the worlds leading electronic companies, has managed to cram a 148 gigabytes per square inch data unit onto a seemingly old school cassette tape. The cassette tape therefore holds 185 terabytes of data. The technique used by Sony to place this incredible amount of data into an old form of technology has not yet been announced, however, at the upcoming International Magnetic Conference in Dresden soon. The result of this process however, has managed to amaze tech fans everywhere as 185 terabytes can contain three entire Blu-Ray discs into what was an outdated form of technology. Sony plans on releasing massive amounts of data in products similar to the high capacity cassettes soon.
Sony, being one of my favorite companies, hosts some of the best technological minds in the world as well as a clean, pure heated charisma seen in very few companies today. Only with this mix of character and intelligence can an entirely outdated market be revived. Although the cassette market hasn't fully been revived, Sony has announced that these new data-dense cassettes are cheap and significantly better value than hard drives and thumb drives. I hope to see compact cassettes in stores soon.
