There are numerous advantages to flying wind turbines. They'd be able to reach the more consistent, stronger high-altitude winds that earthbound wind turbines miss. They would also be 90% cheaper, unheeded by gigantic transportation and installation costs, as well as not requiring massive electrical grids to maintain production. One kind of airborne wind turbine seems to be close to usability. Called the BAT, and created by Altaeros Energies, this turbine is shaped like a blimp with a hole in it. It was designed by a team of MIT graduates, and it seems like a very reasonable suggestion for the future of energy, especially in rural areas that are distant from regular energy providers.
Woah, that would be so amazing! Technology is so remarkable!
ReplyDeleteInnovations such as these are imperative for the United States to be reinvigorated after the economic downturn of the past few years. The government is sometimes so obstinate about passing legislation to solve an economic problem when, usually, the more effective solution is endorsing projects that seek to make developments such as these.
