“A Mississippi School Striving for Excellence”

This article
is about the Mississippi
School for Mathematics and Science (MSMS). The author talks about how this
public boarding school is actually doing education “right” because the kids
like school and learning and clearly sees the correlation between what they
learn and how they can apply it to their lives.
I think that Booker
T. is very similar to this school, and would be of the same caliber in regards
to kids being passionate about their education if we didn’t have to admit so
many kids to the school. There is a large group of kids that don’t even want to
be at Booker T. and this drags down the overall experience for all of the kids.
Because there is no push for major school reform, or a push to increase public
school funding, I think Booker T. is always going to have a few kids that don’t
really want to be there.
I agree that our students are much like these kids in that they have a passion for what they are learning. I wonder how our school would be different if we were a private school like MMS versus a public school.
ReplyDeleteIt is so important to take advantage of every opportunity that is presented to us and make the most of it. Booker T. is certainly one of those opportunities to make the most of.
ReplyDeleteI agree Booker T. is much like this school. You can see the talent and determination to do well much like many people at our school!
ReplyDeletecomment by rhyann lee I feel like at any school people will not enjoy it simply because they just don't like school. even though that is sad it is very true that booker t has a lot of opportunities
