Texas Judge Under Fire For Blaming "Promiscous" Rape Victim - Lizy Rutherford 4th pd

Judge Jeanine Howard recently gave 20 year old Sir Young, a man who confessed to raping a 14 year old girl at her high school, a 45 day sentence and probation and 250 hours of community service at a rape crisis center after implying that said girl was promiscuous. Howard told the Dallas Morning News that she based part of the sentence on records she had found on the girl, stating that she had multiple sexual partners and gave birth once. She claimed that the girl "wasn't the victim she claimed to be" and said the defendant "is not your typical sex offender."

This enrages me. That judge needs to be impeached. First of all, she was 14 years old. There is no possible way a 14 year girl can consent to sex, no matter her maturity. Second, Young kept going even when she said stop. Even if someone says No or Stop once, it is rape. Period. Third, a rapist doing community service at a rape crisis center is the worst possible thing to happen for victims being treated at the center. His mere presence would trigger too many of the victims, causing further pain. Fortunately the center is not allowing it whatsoever. Fourth, the judge claiming that the girl was promiscuous sends a dangerous message to other rape victims who haven't spoken up: It's your fault this happened. It will make those victims feel like standing up for themselves will cost their reputation and their physical safety.

Simply put: this judge is perpetuating rape culture, because it is apparently the victim's fault for being 'promiscous' instead of faulting the young man who refused to listen to her. She needs to be impeached, NOW.
