JAMA Pediatrics ha recently states that the studies that have been conducted in the past years showing that childhood obesity has declined may have just been an illusion. The researchers looked at the data from 26,000 children age ranging from 6-19 years old. It was concluded that rates for childhood obesity have been on the rise since 1999. in 2011-2012 2.1% of children were added to the Class 3 Obesity category, meaning that they had a body mass index of 140% and 5.9% met the criteria for the Class 2 Category. There are definitely many heath risks that come with being obese especially when you are a child.
Honestly I knew that the Number of obese children was rising but I never really noticed it if that makes sense. In my family all of the children are lean or thin, so I am not around that type of thing constantly, and that is something that I believe aids obesity. People get comfortable with there children eating any and everything. as it said in the article there are serious help risks that come along with obesity. There is a lot of fat in one 'little' body, it can't handle it. I hope that this trend turns around and soon
Kids need to learn how to eat right. It's sad all the processed junk that's out there, and how addictive it is.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons that people eat excess amounts of food is that most of the food that the food industry puts on the shelves is made to make you want more than just one bite. Humans are wired to where they love the taste of foods that are high in sugar (carbohydrates are included as sugars). So it is against our nature to stop eating the foods that are high in carbohydrates and sugars. One way to counteract this is eating fruit because they are high in sugar, but they are also high in nutritional value and it is ok to eat large amounts of fruit.
ReplyDeleteIt's because they have 0 will power to look good and be fit. If they want to be dying a slow death during their "life" that's them. Just don't jack up my mandatory obamacare rates
