Summary:
Tonight, the first lunar eclipse will occur for 2014. This is the start of an "eclipse tetrad", having four back to back lunar eclipses that will happen over the next 18 months. When an eclipse occurs, the moon will turn red or copper as it reflects sunlight and sunsets around the world. The red light reflected is what gives the eclipse the name "blood moon." The dark veil over the moon should be seen at 2am and should last for 3.5 hours. In case you miss this unusual occurrence, it will be broadcast live on a few space webcasts, also, there are a few more eclipses to come soon.
\Analysis:
This is such an interesting thing to me and it's crazy to think that this kind of thing does not happen too often. When you do get to see lunar eclipses, it is very unusual and I would love to see what this one looks like tonight!

Dang! I missed it. I always miss these, but my dad will always go watch them and see the meteor showers and what not and then tell me all about it the next day.
ReplyDeleteIm looking forward to the next three, I was able to see this one but was not able to last to long after waking up to see it. Hopefully the next one is at a more reasonable time.
ReplyDeleteI got the chance to see it for a short while and I hope I will be able to see the next ones, since it was very cold outside and I sadly still had homework to do when it came by!
