Recently, in one of the deepest ocean dives ever, scientists found a plastic bag at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest point on Earth. This is not only extremely alarming, but very discouraging for the future of our planet and the environment around us. Recently, things have escelated from bad to worse in terms of climate change and how it's effected not only your oceans but our animal life. These plastic bags and candy wrappers at deeper points in the ocean than humans have ever gone is just further proof that we need to clean up our oceans before even the places we can't see are ruined.
This relates to history because of the beginnings of pollution concerns at the turn of the 20th century. The audience is everyone who wants to see a clean Earth. The purpose is to inform and persuade people to either give money or participate to clean up funds across the globe. The importance is absolutely immeasurable because without us taking care of the Earth, live will not be possible.
I feel like a bunch of people know that climate change is bad and we need to fix it, but we don't know what to do. I hope that as a society we can start making steps towards a greener earth, because if it's only a few people working, we'll never reach it.
ReplyDeleteI believe the country and really the world as a whole has reached an absolute low point in terms of addressing climate change, with our trash somehow managing to make it to the most remote place on earth.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Miranda and Vince, but after so many centuries of the American Dream being built up, this idea of over consumption and no consequences, how can we limit these values rooted so deeply in our society?
ReplyDeleteImagine being that person who tossed that plastic bag out
ReplyDeleteWow! This should definitely serve as a wake up call for the world that our Earth is hurting and needs help. We have let it get to this point and really need to put in the effort to help reverse the damage we have done. Lily Philips
