https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/13/us/navajo-code-talker-death/index.html.
This CNN article informs it's reader of the tragic news that an original Navajo Code Talker died on May 13. Fleming Begaye Sr. worked in WWII as a code talker, and him and his comrades played key roles in significant victories over the Japanese, including Iwo Jima. He passed at 97 and was one of the only seven original code talkers still living.
This is very important news, especially for Americans, because the article chronicles the death of a hero in WWII. It is especially important for APUSH students because we have learned about the Navajo Code Talkers and their contributions. I, personally, had no idea that any of the original code talkers were still living, but now I know more about those that are living and have passed.
It’s amazing really he lived this long they helped us transfer messages and helped win the war
