Iowa has confirmed multiple cases of a disease that can be transmitted from dogs to humans - Joziah German

Brucellosis, a disease that can be transmitted from an infected dog to humans, has been confirmed in multiple cases of canine in Iowa. Iowa State Veterinarian and regional animal rescue organizations have quarantined 32 dogs. The diseases came from a small dog breeding facility. Currently, this facility is shut down as dogs are undergoing tests. The real threat isn't towards dog owners, but for the people that come in contact with anything inside the dogs; blood, tissues, and bodily fluids. The department suggests anyone who has gotten a dog from the Marion country region called their vet. It is said that the disease is rare, for it requires close contacted with infected dogs. Humans will acquire flu-like symptoms, including pain in the back and joints. Iowa State University suggests people wear protective clothing for anyone handling reproductive tissues and newborn puppies. Always wash your hands after touching animals.

This article published by Christina Maxouris, CNN, was made public Monday the 13th. I have had no prior knowledge regarding this story, nor did I know dogs could transmit any diseases to humans. For anyone reading this article, this could be taken negatively because its a new underlying, rare disease being found in dogs, who are not supposed to hold infections that can harm humans. This piece reminds me of The Great Plague, also known as the Black Death. The Black Death was spread by animals just like Brucellosis, and it went on to kill millions. This new disease, like the Black Death, could have horrifying effects on society if it isn't controlled. So many people have dogs, and dogs are touched by humans a lot more than a rat touches a human. Both diseases started so small, I would hate to see this new infection found from dogs become a nationwide pandemic. This article, in my opinion, was written for everyone to see and learn, but more specifically it was published for dog owners. It's a great reminder to get your animals vaccinated and checked for uncommon occurrences. This article was written to speak and gain awareness of a new disease found in Caines up north that can spread to humans. This article is important and relevant to our lives because it shows that new developments are constantly being found relating to bacteria, diseases, and things harmful to the new human race.

  2. This is alarming, however it could have already been decades, or even centuries that this possibility has already existed.
