Volcano Kilauea has been erupting since the evening of May 5th, and so far it has destroyed 26 homes and released toxic gas and molten lava. Unfortunately, the volcano isn't the only problem at hand, as a result of the eruption a 6.9 magnitude earthquake shook the island on Friday. A community of about 1,700 people near Hawaii's eastern edge have been ordered to evacuate. Many residents are panicking and planning for emergency procedures.
This is so scary, especially because several citizens do not have plans for emergency evacuation. Also, the vents are still open, and actively releasing large amounts of sulfur dioxide which results in the burning of the nose and throat. Hopefully all of the citizens in the affected areas were able to evacuate and remain safe.
