Eric Schneiderman, New York Attorney General, resigned over allegations of assault by multiple women. He stated that those allegations will prevent him from further serving as Attorney General. He also is a vocal proponent of the #MeToo movement.
He resigned so quickly after The New Yorker published this report (hours later). Clearly, he knew what he has done is wrong, and he is guilty. In any other situation, he probably wouldn't have stepped down so quickly, but the backlash would hit him so hard. Especially being a part of the #MeToo movement, and doing what he did automatically tells the public that he is a false proponent.
Many figures of the past have done things that are hidden from the public eye. For example, Nixon and the Watergate scandal, where he ultimately tried to cover up what was already witnessed by multiple people. That event affected the who population which decreased their trust in the governments ability to govern. Schneiderman assaulted MULTIPLE women over a PERIOD OF TIME, who knows how many and for how long...
