A new presidential library named for former President Barack Obama has been announced. The library is set to be built in Jackson Park in the South Side of Chicago, a poorer area of the city often associated with violence. The former president describes his vision for the library to be a community hub with exhibition spaces and an attached park for events, and play areas for children. It will also be the first fully digital presidential library.
This is similar to the city beautiful movement in the progressive era where they tried to make everything nicer and prettier just as this library is trying to add a community center to the area.
This is so rad! I think it's very important that the location of the library is in a poorer part of the city, it'll help people's access to education in that area.
ReplyDeleteThis is great that the library will be more accessible for the entire community. Hopefully the placement of it will also decrease violence in the city.
