In Bundi, 26 people were killed and 7 wounded, according to Burundi's security minister. Alain Guillaume Bunyoini, security minister, claimed that a terrorist group was responsible for the event; though he never disclosed the name of the group. Some families were stabbed and attacked, with one family being burned alive in their home. One survivor was was particularly upset that the army did nothing to help even though they ere not far from the village.
Not much information is given about the attackers other than the fact that they returned to a nearby area after the attack. It's possible that were was possibly and ulterior motive by the government to do this, but there isn't much information to support this idea.
