As the royal wedding nears, the media has become even more intrusive in the Markle Family. One point that was brought up is simply Ms. Markle's skin color. Although mentioned briefly, it clearly mentions that it is a big deal because she is the first person of color to join the royal family. The second and most important thing mentioned in the article is about Megan’s dad, not herself. It is rumored that old pictures of him getting ready for the wedding were staged by himself to cause drama. Now, as he declines the wedding invitation and plays the victim, Megan and Prince Harry both ask kindly that the media back off of the “fragile” man.
First off, I absolutely love that a person of mixed ethnicities from AMERICA is joining the royal family. Clearly, our country has always dealt with white supremacy issues, so it is great that ethnic woman gets to represent our country in such a graceful manner. Although the parts about her father are a bit irrelevant to US history, it is an eye-opener to see how family affects decisions. It makes me wonder how many important decisions were made in US history as an effect of a family member.
