As if the fissures and lava flows weren’t enough, the people of Hawaii are now dealing with the heavy concentration of Sulfur Dioxide, the smoke boding death for even more unfortunate Hawaiian citizens. Public officials can do little about the situation in regards to containment, and are simply encouraging that everyone actively attempts to avoid the gas, as well as the still looming threat of lava rampaging through cities and wildlife.
The worst part about this event, for me at least, is that there seems to be very little that officials can do about the natural disasters. It seems it will only worsen as well, as fissure 17 recently opened in the area, bringing with it a new wave of threats to the people of Hawaii. They can only hope for the threats to stop soon.
