Cirque du Soleil performer dies during a company show in Florida. The show VOLTA wasn't anything short of extraordinary as it pushed the boundaries of humanly possible, however the stunts that performer, Yann Arnaud, were doing before he fell were some of his ordinary stunts that he has done a thousand times before. In witness statements, people said that Arnaud was struggling on the rope, his grip slipped, and then he plummeted to the floor below. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died. Rope and silk work is extremely demanding and difficult and it is likely that Arnaud could have over exerted his energy before the show, maybe practicing too much, and could no longer continue. Another theory is some system in his body could have malfunctioned and caused his death. Whatever the reason, everyone that knew him said that his happy and joyous disposition touched everyone around him.

that sounds really scary for both the performer and the audience. I can't imagine watching him fall
ReplyDeleteOlivia Wall- I heard about this, that show is so amazing, and I agree with Allison that it must have been crazy to see him fall.
ReplyDeleteI also wrote about this tragedy and was surprised to see that Cirque du Soleil was charged with six citations against safety back in 2013. Do you think that had something to do with this situation as well?
ReplyDeletei would have never seen a connection
