Trump moving the U.S embassy//Trevor Turnbow

Recently President Trump decided to move the U.S embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. In doing this he will declare that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. This is good news for the Israelites who have been fighting to keep this sacred city in their territory for a long time. Within the lens of foreign affairs this action can have quick and dangerous affects. The city of Jerusalem has been under a lot of debate, in the armistice 1949 the city was split. Israel annexed the city, which is a very controversial decision some believe are illegal. It has been made clear that if the capital does move it would be a huge set back in talks of peace between Jerusalem and Palestine. Many worry this could be the spark to set off the middle eastern powder keg.
I don't have too much to say on this decision. It's a lot less black and white than some of the other decisions that have been made by Trump. While recognizing Jerusalem as the capital is important to Israel, it puts the people of Israel and America in danger. The fact that the city was once split makes me think of Berlin when the city was split between East & West, Communism & Democracy. It's interesting how cities within itself can develop such different ideals so that they split apart.
