The California Wildfires
The amount of land destroyed in California by the wildfires is more land than New York City and Boston combined. It is called the Thomas fire and started in Ventura County and is now moving across Santa Barbara County. It is the fifth largest fire in California's history. Over 25,000 homes have been threatened any many people have had to evacuate. There are 9,000 firefighters that have come to help California from the bordering states. Santa Barbara County has suffered 85,000 power outages, and about 98,000 people have evacuated. The damages have gotten up to ten billion dollars.
This is very important in US history because there has been many natural disasters lately that have threatened our country and Americans. This tragedy will bring the country together because we will have to unite to help recover California and put the people back in their homes.
