Sunday brought warnings from Oslo, Norway at the Nobel peace Prize award ceremony. As tensions rise between America and North Korea we should, "Heed our warning and know that your actions are consequential. You are each an integral part of the system of violence that threatens humankind," spoken by Setsuko Thurlow, who advocates the prohibition of disastrous weapons. While the Norwegian Nobel Committee chose Beatrice Fihn who was the lead support of the United Nations treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. However; even with all of the given warnings, the lead countries in the United Nations (France, China, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Russia), as well as North Korea did not take part in the treaty. As the threat looms over many, the result of a nuclear would be favorable by no side.
The idea of this is truly terrifying, and even worse when there is little you can do but go on with your daily life. Nuclear war would mean the complete destruction of one another, there would be no winner, while the opens might be taken out both are greatly damaged. I really hope that the tension will die down and will slowly be forgotten. However; this event is much like the cold war, while people don’t seem as worried, it still is troublesome. Luckily though with the support of Nobel Piece prize winners and big names advocating the cease of this nuclear debate, we hopefully we’ll stop trying to scare and threaten our enemies, but instead to reason and not risk war.
