Sexual Assault Allegations in Two colleges

The "Me Too" movement has had a huge impact on two historic African American colleges in Atlanta. One morning in November flyers appeared on both campuses with phrases like "Morehouse protects rapists", "Spelman protects rapists" and accused athletes and fraternity members of sexual assault. The next morning, the chapel dedicated to alumnus Martin Luther King Jr. had been spray painted with the words "Practice what you preach Morehouse + end rape culture" in bright red letters. The recent claims of sexual assault across the nation have inspired a huge influx of claims to both colleges.“I was just inspired by all the women coming forward about Harvey Weinstein.  People are believing these women. Maybe they’ll believe me, too.” said one woman who had accused her professor of assault recently. The colleges claim that they take all allegations very seriously, but many aren't convinced.  One student at Morehouse said, "I believe that as a campus, we’re not as educated as we should be,”

This article has no bias, but helps the audience understand the magnitude of the situation. I believe having more discussions about rape culture in colleges will help people be more educated and vigilant in the future. While incidents like Harvey Weinstein sexual assault allegations are awful, they open up discussions and inspire others to speak up. I also think the "Me Too" movement is inspiring more people to speak up when they think someone acted inappropriately and watch out for other women.
