Ex-Florida Democratic Rep. Corrine Brown sentenced for mail, wire and tax fraud involving sham charity//KLARK JOHNSON

On Monday, former Democratic Rep. Corrine Brown was sentenced to 5 years in jail for mail, wire and tax fraud involving a fake charity.  Brown was convicted of stealing from “One Door For Education”, a sham charity for giving scholarships to underprivileged children, for  Brown and her associates to throw lavish parties and expensive trips.

Earlier this year the”president” of said organization and Brown’s former chief of staff  pleaded guilty and testified against brown. The aide and another official later accepted a plea deal and testified against Brown, who served in Congress for nearly 25 years. Im glad this sham charity has been caught and justice is served. They should not be able to get away with this. Brown testified that she was left in the dark about the goings-on with One Door's money, and blamed the theft on Simmons. She was convicted in May on 18 of 22 charges.
