President Trump's personal attorney, John Dowd, could not have obstructed justice because he is protected by the Constitution. This claim comes after a tweet from the President stating that he fired former White House security advisor Michael Flynn because Flynn had lied to the FBI. Some are now connecting this to Trump's plea to James Comey to not further investigate Russia. However Dowd has denied obstruction of justice citing Article II of the Constitution. However Bob Bauer, White House consul under the Obama administration, has said that the Constitution grants no immunity to the President in event of a felony.
This trustable, non bias article from CNN deeply troubles me in that Dowd is suggesting that a government official can be above the law. This goes against one of the central beliefs we hold in America; the idea of limited government. No matter if there was obstruction of justice or not, Dowd's claim has no substance and should not be regarded as American. This claim is very similar to that given by the Nixon administration in the 1970s during the Watergate scandal. We know now what President Nixon did was illegal and he resigned for this. We cannot hold Trump to a different standard.

It's very disheartening to see our country's health deteriorate like this. George Washington wouldn't have done this to us.
