Beyonce is celebrating the anniversary of her album "Lemonade" by announcing scholarships for women to attend selected colleges. Her Formation Scholars Award will go to one female student at each of four schools. The schools she selected were Boston's Berklee College of Music, New York's Parsons School of Design, and two historically black colleges, Howard University and Spelman College. The announcement says the scholarships are aimed at encouraging and supporting women "who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious, and confident."
I think it's important that famous pop stars reach out to people and support them. This helps create a better world for us, and encourages people like them to reach out and do what they really want without having to worry about monetary constraints. This is similar to Andrew Carnegie's beliefs in his Gospel of Wealth speech, talking about how it's good for the rich to use philanthropy to help out the poor.
