It is expected that the yellow fever vaccines will run out this summer. This deadly disease is transmitted by mosquitos who are infected. It is popular in Africa and Central and South America. They are having trouble ordering the supplies that are affected by manufacturing problems. 18 countries require this vaccination to be able to travel to that country, so it is affecting many people’s traveling problems. After three to six days of a mosquito bite, there are severe symptoms that are very painful. At a limited number of sites, an alternative vaccine will be available. In 2015, the worst outbreak in Angola caused a number of vaccinations to decrease a lot.
I trust that all of the facts in this article are true since it is posted on CNN. I remember when I traveled to Uganda, Africa, I had to get at least 4-5 shots. I think it is great that the countries make sure people have the vaccinations before entering their country. This shows they take pride in the health and safety of their citizens. It is scary to think that something we always assume is at easy access is not anymore, especially since this is a vital vaccination. I am hoping the alternative vaccination works just as well, but I really hope they find another way to get more yellow fever vaccinations.
