These states have banned sanctuary cities
Summary: This article discusses the fact that multiple states are starting to pass laws regarding sanctuary cities. This is in light of multiple cities, such as Austin, disobeying their state by refusing to enforce deportation laws passed under Trump's administration. It has come into question whether or not the cities are allowed to do this, and the executive branch has said no. Some cities still disobey these laws, however. Multiple states are expected to pass anti-sanctuary-city laws in the near future.
Analysis: I think it's really cool that these cities have stood up to the "bully" government. Republicans talk a big game about individual rights but when it comes to stuff like this they totally go the other way. I don't think that there is really any point to deporting innocent people who are just going about their lives. This can be synthesized to the Gentlemen's Agreement because it had to do with blocking immigration.
