Lilly Anthony-Waitress Gets a Generous Tip

Summary: After Trump’s inauguration there still is a lot of tension between Republicans and Democrats. But a waitress this past week shared a story that was shocking to many. At the restaurant she works at in Washington D.C., she served a group of three businessmen who looked like that had come for the inauguration. The waitress and the three men talked and she learned that they had come from West Texas while the learned about the Restaurant’s history. Soon after, the group left and walked off after finishing their meal. When the waitress went to pick up the check, she noticed they had left a note. The note stated “We may come from different cultures and may disagree on certain issues, but if everyone would share their smile and kindness like your beautiful smile, our country will come together as one people. Not race. Not gender. Just American.” And along with that they left a $450 tip.

Analysis: After someone sent me a link to this article, I thought this would be such a great article to write about. This article truly focuses on the struggle we feel as Americans to accept what others do or don’t. When people create issues between the political parties, we become divided as a country instead of unified. It's important to treat everyone with respect and kindness just as the three men did for her. The article’s audience is directed toward all U.S citizens and the purpose was to show that no matter your views we are all still unified as a country and it's up to each one of us to take the responsibility of being genuine to everyone. Marquis de Lafayette was someone who saw America as a country worth fighting for because of our unity and commitment. By reflecting those qualities America had, it will be easier for everyone to get along.

  4. It is heart warming to hear that politics did not define what these men thought of others.
