Recently in the Midwest, a very rare view of a flaming meteor passing the sky was seen. It is unclear whether the meteor struck Earth or just burned away. Though it is believed that the meteor landed somewhere in Lake Michigan. Many took videos of this sightings, some even stated that they heard a sonic boom along with it.
I think it's so amazing how we are able to safely experience things like this. Since meteors have usually been though of as very dangerous thing (which they still are sometimes), most people don't have the opportunity to safely view many the pass by Earth. Like the article said, sightings of meteors, especially a flaming meteor, are very very rare.

This is super cool!
ReplyDeleteI saw video of this and it was quite amazing, so bright and it looked to be very close to earth from where it was being filmed. I would like to know what size of a meteor it was.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how we can connect science to something historical.
