Flu Spreads Across 40 States by Macey Kanaman 8th Period

Summary: In the recent weeks, the flu has been spreading all over the country. Puerto Rico hasn't lost 15 lives due to the flu and seven just these past these two weeks. Some regions such as New Jersey, New York and South Carolina are facing the highest levels of the flu putting the people who live in these areas at high risk. The CDC recommends everyone to get their vaccinations. It is common for the flu to go around this time of year due to schools starting up again. Out of the four flu viruses A and B are the most common among humans this season. Children and the elderly are the most at risk of complications when dealing with the flu, that is why it is recommended to get your vaccine to protect yourself and others.

Analysis: During this time of year everyone seems to be getting sick. The flu seems to spread very quickly through families and schools. When you get your flu shot you're not only protecting yourself but protecting your family or even your school. I'm glad that their is a vaccine for the flu even though I have heard of many cases of people dying from the flu like I'm Puerto Rico. I can only imagine how much worse it was a few hundred years ago when everyone was just getting sick and no one knew why.
