Coca Cola speaks out - Katie Schuldenberg

Last Sunday, February 6, 2017, Americans all over the country stopped what they were doing, turned on a television, and watched the Super Bowl. Most watch for the football, though a good portion of viewers are waiting for commercials for entertainment. This year, Coca Cola had a commercial featuring Americans of different races, cultures, religions, and languages singing "America the Beautiful" in Spanish, Keres, Tagalog, Hindi, Senegalese French, English, and Hebrew. The commercial originally came out in 2014 but was re-aired this year for obvious reasons. Reviews are varying, but strong in opinions.
When I first watched the commercial it made me tear up, it was that moving. Reading reviews on Youtube and other sites shocked me with their comments. There were promises of boycotting Coca Cola due to the commercials and claims that the commercial wasn't accurate to what President Trump is doing now. I hope the commercial had more of a positive, motivating effect on its viewers and that people's eyes were opened to the beauty of diversity.

  1. I actually thought the superbowl was a thanksgiving sports event thing until today, but apparently I missed out on a lot from the commercials- this one in particular sounds extremely moving.

  2. I saw this commercial during the superbowl! I was very moved by it as well, and I agree that I hope that the commercial leaves a more positive effect on the viewers than negative.
