Summary: This election day five states will be voting whether or not to legalize marijuana. The states are California, Massachusetts, Maine, Arizona and Nevada. Three other states will vote whether or legalize it for medical reasons. By federal law, the drug is illegal, but it has gained popularity over the years. It is now the number one illicit drug in the US however, unlike other illicit drugs, only one third of people report addiction. Recreational marijuana is currently only legal in four states, but medical marijuana and medical CBD marijuana is legal in 34 states. The states with legal marijuana have better economies, however they also have an increased amount of marijuana related ER visits and an increased amount of poison control calls.
Analysis: I think that its very interesting to hear which states have marijuana legalized and which don't. Before reading this article, I always just thought of Colorado. I hope that more states jump on this band wagon, especially for medical marijuana. Marijuana is very similar to alcohol, in fact its safer. If alcohol is legal, why can't marijuana be too? However, I personally wouldn't be very effected either way.

I agree with you! I think that it should be legalized so that people in pain can get relief, and we can stop criminalizing it. Also it's actually better for you then alcohol.
